Great little welder

Great little stick welder. Haven't used a stick welder in 40 years. Used this welder and was running perfect beads in minutes. Several YouTube videos on how to use this unit for beginners.

Compare and contrast TL-195 S and TL-135 S

I purchased the TL-195 S welder because I had recently bought a smaller Tooliom welder, model TL-135 S and was greatly impressed. Although I very much like the TL-135, it is somewhat under-powered for welding steel plate above 3/8 inch. There are several reviews on here that reliably describe how well the TL-195 runs different size and types of rods, so I will not repeat what others have said. Instead, I will highlight the difference and similarity between the TL-195 and the TL-135.First let me brake down my interpretation of the model numbers. The "TL" is derived from Too-Liom. The "195" designates it has a maximum Amp rating of 195 amps. The "S" I assume refers to either "Stick welder" or more likely SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding). By this logic a TL-135 S would be a 135 amp welder. This is obviously the biggest difference between the two.Another difference is the size of the wire used in the power cord and welding leads. The TL-195 S comes with heaver wires. The electrode holders and ground clamp appear to be the same. The TL-195 uses a larger size cable connector (DIN 50) than the TL-135 (DIN 35).The TL-195 and TL-135 are 120v and 220v machines and use the same power cord adapter. The user manuals are brief, full of mistakes and pretty much useless. The manual states the electrode cable should be connected to the "-" socket and the ground cable to the "+" socket. Wrong. The Amazon description indicates the electrode cable should be connected to the "+" unless welding with 6010 electrode. I have tested this and 6010 runs much better when connected to "-" socket. But, don't take my word for that, see for yourself. Many of these inverter welders grossly overstate their maximum amp rating. For example a welder advertised as 200 amps may only be 120 amps. Not so with the Tooliom welders. The amps digitally displayed on the unit are very close to the real output amps. For example if you dial in 70 amps the true amp output will be close, say 68 to 72 amps.I like both welders and recommend both.Update: I just ran 5/32 6013 at 145 amp setting 220 volts. It welded great on 1/2 inch plate. Flawless beads.

Best little welder ever!

First of all it doesn't do well on a 15A 110V circuit. But on 220 V it is absolute kick ass. I am using 1/8 inch 7014 rods and at 150A it lays a beautiful weld on 1/8inch plate. With the 220 V plug I can just use a heavy duty 3 wire extension cord to power the welder. Very cost effect effective.I purchased the 220V 3 wire receptacle from amazon.I have about 30 years of experience with both stick and mig welding.Very easy welder to use and strikes an arc without any sticking.

Works great

Works good but need 30 amp to get above 90 amp output but lower levels work fine 30 Amp cooks great

LOVE IT! PLEASE READ

I am not an experienced welder, I only started welding 2 years ago when I bought another little 135 inverter arc welder, it was ok, but I got frustrated a lot! I bought this one hoping to get more consistent welds, and after a couple of hours of playing around with everyhing from thin rusty steel, to thick steel I am more than happy with this welder! I cranked it right up and boy does it have power, at 195 amp I could blow a 1/8" 6013 rod right through 3/8 steel. At about 35 amp I could feather nice beads of a smaller 6013 rod on thin rusty rotten metal. I bought this one over a similar Dekopro because this one has a standard 110 plug wired right into the welder and so the adapter then has a male to 50 amp nema 6-50, all that being said, you can run 220 volts on a standard extension cord, no need to buy one with 6-50 ends, any cord will do (just make sure it's heavy enough for the length used). Another absolutly wonderful feature is the 10' lead lines, with soft and pliable cable, and a long power cord to boot! I am so glad I bought this nice little welder!UPDATE: Been using it a lot, I even welded up a trailer, and still absolutely love how consistent the welds are, I'm still learning to weld, but for this price range this a very user friendly welder and well built! No more frustration!

Inconsistent output

I have very mixed feelings about this welder. I love that it is so light and portable, but I'm completely unimpressed by its total inability to strike a good arc when using 7018 rod. It doesn't matter whether you use 120 or 240 Vac, it's nearly impossible to strike and hold an arc, no matter where I set the amperage. Apparently a quirk of the inverter type welder since the Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 buzz box I used to own welded beautifully with 7018. So if you want to use 7018, run away. But this one still works fine with 6013, and quite probably other types of rod that I haven't tried with it yet. (I'll update if I try using anything else.) Another plus is the detachable cables, so if you damage one, then fixing/replacing it shouldn't be a problem. It also has a much better grounding clamp than some units I've seen. And did I say it's light? WAY easier to move around than the Lincoln was. And it can run on 120Vac, although it seems happier plugged into 240 volts. I do have to wonder how accurate the amperage readout is. It seems a bit optimistic to me.So it isn't totally useless, and if you're welding now and then using 6013 rod, I actually think it's a bargain. But if you want to use 7018, as I said above, run away.

Not to bad

Good device for your money. I am a welder with 25 years of experience, I am satisfied with this so far, I have welded at 110 and at 220 normally. I will not make recommendations, choose to buy or not to buy!
